Many rivers to cross

Article Abstract:

It has become increasingly common in the UK for water to be taken from reservoirs to supplement rivers when water levels are low. However, some scientists are concerned that very little is known about the potential environmental impact of this approach to dealing with water shortages. If the two areas of water are very similar chemically, then there will probably be little environmental impact. In cases where there are chemical differences, problems can arise. There is also the danger of transferring new pests and diseases.

Sex: many agendas but few timetables

Article Abstract:

There are many different views about whether primary school pupils should be taught about sex, and if so, how much they should be taught. Secondary schools are legally obliged to offer sex education, but in primary schools it is up to the school governors. At present, there is no single policy on how and where sex education takes place in primary schools, and this leads to great differences between teenagers in their understanding of sexual issues.
