Mind games - the new university challenge

Article Abstract:

Head-hunters are now being used by even some of the most traditional universities in the UK to fill top jobs. Similarly, psychometric testing has become a common feature of the appointment process for such jobs. It is possible to argue that there are some negative aspects to these trends. Some universities are abandoning their responsibilities by relying too heavily on head-hunting firms, and using these firms could in fact be a sign of institutional weakness. The use of head-hunters should only be one element in the selection process for top university jobs.
