Miniature homes at maximum prices

Article Abstract:

Collectors are becoming increasingly interested in dolls' houses, and demand is already exceeding supply. Some dolls' houses are of extremely high quality, and these command very high prices. Others are in rather poor condition, and may require some restoration. Bonhams is shortly to auction a collection of more than 40 dolls' houses put together by Vivien Greene, now aged 94, over many years. The first stage of the auction, to cover 20 dolls' houses, is expected to raise 200,000 pounds sterling.

A fair fight for the punter's purse

Article Abstract:

There were about 500 antiques fairs lasting up to five days in 1991 and 1992. An international art and antiques fair in Harrods, London will be held in Nov, 1993 and the British Antique Dealers Association (Bada) will hold its first fair in Chelsea, London, England in May, 1993. Fairs permit buyers and sellers to communicate, unlike auctions, and Bada and the London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association (Lapada) vet the antiques.

What goes around comes around

Article Abstract:

Choosing a picture frame can be extremely difficult, as the frame can have a great influence on the appearance of the picture. In many cases, original picture frames have been destroyed, and this leads to problems with how to link a new frame with an old painting. Careful consideration needs to be given to the exact role which the frame is to play.
