More money can now be put into Peps schemes, but how will politics affect them?
Article Abstract:
Investors can now put 6,000 pounds sterling in a Pep instead of the formerly permitted 3,000 pounds upper limit. A spate of new investment trusts has begun to appear and are being sold as Peps. Nigel Sidebottom, an investment trust adviser, feels that people are buying in a hurry without thinking whether the investment suits them. The Labour party does not favour the tax status of Peps but claim it has no plans to reform the scheme if it wins the election. 'Europeps', investing in the EC, and single company Peps, where more money can be invested if the shares are held in a sole company are among the new schemes available.
