Pakistan faces a difficult battle on many fronts

Article Abstract:

Pakistan is very aware that any US military action against Afghanistan's Taliban regime following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon could have serious repercussions for its own people. Going into war against Afghanistan would mean fighting on several fronts simultaneously.

Muharraf is unsentimental over fate of his old friends and new foes

Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharraf has stated that his key priority as the US takes military action against Afghanistan is Pakistan's national interest. He has committed himself to the removal of Afghanistan's Taliban regime, but also expresses strong opposition to the Northern Alliance, Afghanistan's only viable opposition force.

Pakistan warns that war with India is looming

Article Abstract:

Relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated following the suicide attack on the parliament building in Delhi, India. This was blamed by India on Pakistan-based militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Tayyiba. There is now regular shelling and mortar fire across the border.
