On piste or on poster, skiing is expensive

Article Abstract:

Ski posters are becoming increasingly sought after by collectors in the UK. The market is relatively immature, so prices are rather volatile. The most attractive posters are those that date from before the second world war and have clear period flavour. Posters by artists whose names are already well known to poster collectors generally sell for high prices. Artists with an established reputation include Francisco Tamagno and Roger Broders.

Film posters hit the big time

Article Abstract:

There has been a sharp rise in prices for film posters following the publication of Tony Nourmand and Graham Marsh's book 'Film Posters of the 60s.' A further rise is expected after the publication on Oct 1, 1998, of their next book, 'Film Posters of the 70s.' Values are highest for box-office classics, and this is likely to remain the case. Collectors should focus on posters featuring cult titles and well-known actors and actresses.

Learn to love a duck

Article Abstract:

Duck stamps have become a popular collectible in the US, where they originated, and are now becoming firmly established in the UK. John Wells of Waltham Cross, England, has become the UK's specialist dealer in duck stamps, and US federal issues are stocked by Stanley Gibbons. The UK's duck stamps, which are sold by the Wildlife Habitat Trust for five pounds sterling each, have seen a modest rise in value so far.
