Article Abstract:

The construction of the world's first international space station will enter a crucial phase in summer 1995 as the American space shuttle 'Atlantis' docks with the Russian Mir space station. The programme has attracted considerable controversy, with some US politicians and space officials opposing links with Russia. This stage will certainly test the will and determination of all sides to cooperate for the common good.
