Forum Train Europe has decided that the name of the Orient Express route will be changed from 2002. Private operators will continue to use the route, but public railways will no longer offer Orient Express services.

There are many different age regulations associated with travel. These regulations vary significantly from country to country. In South Africa, Botswana and Zambia, for example, children do not pay half the adult fare on trains until the age of seven, while in Madagascar the adult fare applies from this age. In the UK, it is possible to purchase a young person's railcard up to the age of 26, and this is also the age at which young people are no longer eligible for youth fares on scheduled airlines.
