Out of the closet, into the fire

Article Abstract:

Coming out as a lesbian has had a negative impact on the career of actress Anne Heche. This is because she has lost the ability to surprise her audiences, which is the greatest ability any actor or actress can have. Audiences know a great deal about her personal life, and this means that they cannot find her credible when she plays a character who is very different from her own. This has been the case with the film 'Six Days, Seven Nights,' in which she is cast in a romantic role opposite Harrison Ford.

Gay marketing comes out of the closet

Article Abstract:

Gay consumers used to be ignored, but Absolut vodka is being advertised in Gay Times and other gay publications for the first time in 1992. In America homosexuals are targeted as they have the highest disposable income in the country. Although gays frequent pubs, British breweries have not advertised in the gay press. Gay consumers spend more because they do not have families. They are also style conscious and show above average product loyalty.

Battered men come out of the closet

Article Abstract:

Gay domestic violence has until recently been a subject which has received hardly any publicity compared with the subject of battered women. Even the gay community itself tries to deny that violence takes place between male partners. However, research has shown that violence in same-sex relationships is in proportion to heterosexual relationships. Organisations which help gay men are now trying to draw attention to this problem.
