Article Abstract:

The UK government is developing more detailed national standards for boarding schools. They place emphasis on more detailed checking of all employees in boarding houses and on more child protection procedures. Boarding schools are investing heavily in modernization, but there are now only 72,000 boarders across the UK, from more than 100,000 in 1989.
