Portillo's surprise throws his party into total disarray

Article Abstract:

Michael Portillo, who has decided to seek the nomination of the UK Conservative party to stand for the safe seat of Kensington and Chelsea, has confirmed that he had homosexual relationships while at Peterhouse, Cambridge, England. This revelation will probably not prevent Portillo winning the Conservative nomination, or the by-election, but some observers feel that it raises doubts about his political judgement. It is now feared that the by-election will be dominated by the homosexuality issue.

Blair assaults Prescott empire

Article Abstract:

A reorganization of junior and middle-ranking ministers by UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has led to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott losing four of his eight ministers in the Dept of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR). However, Prescott was able to resist efforts by Blair to entirely take apart the structure of his department. It is expected that a new countryside ministry, bringing together parts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the DETR, will be formed.
