Rabin killing forces crisis of conscience
Article Abstract:
The recent assassination of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin by 27-year-old fellow Israeli Yigal Amir has cast a shadow over the future of the peace process in the Middle East. It is thought that the assassin was acting alone, but police are investigating possible links with extreme groups on the Israeli religious right. Rabin's death has been particularly significant in showing ordinary Israeli people that they must face up to anti-democratic forces within their own country.
