Climbing a mountain such as Mont Blanc can be extremely physically demanding, even when using a relatively straightforward route. The cold and the altitude can quickly bring physical exhaustion, and can prompt many people to question why they are climbing the mountain at all. The real attraction of mountain climbing lies in the challenge, which is different from any other challenge in life. Climbing a mountain requires great mental focus, and allows you to become much more clearly aware of your capabilities.

Recumbent bicycles are designed so that the pedals are in front of the rider, rather than underneath. This allows the rider to adopt a relaxed sitting-back posture that also ensures that the pedals can be turned efficiently. The rider's wrists, spine, neck, hands and backside are much more protected than they are on an ordinary bicycle. It can seem odd to ride a recumbent bicycle initially, but these bicycles are actually very simple to ride.
