Cecile Dolmetsch
Article Abstract:
Musician Cecile Dolmetsch was taught from an early age to play the various period instruments in her family's collection. She sang at many Haslemere Festivals, but became most well known in early music circles for her research into the rare pardessus de viole and its literature. She managed to find manuscripts and publications for this descant instrument in French libraries, and was able to build up a repertoire for it.
