Want to surf the Net on your mobile? Please hold...

Article Abstract:

Mobile phone operator Orange plans to launch an information service using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) in Oct 1999, while Vodafone will launch a similar service on Nov 1, 1999. However, it does not appear likely that either company will introduce the facilities required to permit ordinary WAP phone users to browse the Web. Some observers feel that commercial interests are preventing mobile phone operators installing Hypertext Markup Language-to-Wireless Markup Language converters.
