Saddam to show strength of his iron grip

Article Abstract:

Iraqi president Saddam Hussein is determined to prove that he is still in total control of the country, despite the recent shooting incident by his son and the defection of his two sons-in-law. A referendum to be held on Oct 15, 1995, will undoubtedly show extensive support for him, apart from in the three northern Kurdish provinces. He has been able to survive the immediate crisis caused by the split in his family, but the country's complete international isolation continues to cause problems.
