Serial killers

Article Abstract:

It can often be very hard to decide whether a television series should continue or be dropped. In some cases, those who write or appear in a particular series are ready to drop the series while it is still popular with television audiences, and this can create tension. It is particularly difficult to understand which a decision is made to not continue with a popular series, as success is very rare in this area. It is also very hard to know when to stop producing a series before its quality diminishes.

Those who take offence: a portrait in tyranny

Article Abstract:

Sculptor Michael Sandle has resigned from the Royal Academy in protest at the 'Sensation' exhibition of work by young British artists. He has particularly objected to a portrait of child murderer Myra Hindley, pointing out that its presence has caused great suffering to the mother of one of Hindley's victims. However, he is wrong to claim that it is self-evident that the portrait should be removed. To remove the portrait would be to give in to the tyranny of those who easily take offence.
