Article Abstract:
Ayazma is a shanty town on the European side of Istanbul, where Kurdish refugees are making homes. Houses are built illegally on government land; water is sourced from a communal tank, replenished weekly by the municipality; and heating is powered by electricity, which is often affected by power cuts.
