Shiny happy people
Article Abstract:
The children's television programme 'Blue Peter' has for many years been regarded as creating a safe, nurturing environment for children. This is why there has been extensive media coverage of the dismissal of Richard Bacon, one of the programme's presenters, for using cocaine. Like other personalities on children's television programmes and in pop music and soap operas, Bacon was expected to be clean-living, and he has now destroyed this image. Personalities associated with children's television programmes often find it hard to shake off this image and break into other areas of the media.

Race for the next 'Friends.' (1998 Los Angeles screenings)(Media +)
Article Abstract:
The annual two-week Los Angeles screenings give international television executives the opportunity to see the most recent US television series. UK television programme purchasers visiting the 1998 Los Angeles screenings are particularly keen to identify the next 'Friends' from the around 40 new series to be screened. More series are being made available by US networks, but UK purchasers are becoming increasingly selective about US series.
