Should you write a living will?
Article Abstract:
The British Medical Association (BMA) is shortly to announce new guidelines to health professionals on drawing up 'living wills.' These documents allow patients to set down in advance the treatment which they do, or do not, wish to receive before their death. Agreement has now been reached with the Law Commission that such statements should be legally binding. Some groups have welcomed this move, claiming that it enhances the patient's right of choice, while others are concerned that it could corrupt the medical profession.

Recent research indicates that the whooping cough vaccine, which is now given to 93% of children in the UK, could be connected with childhood asthma. It has been found that children who received the vaccine are 5.43 times more likely to suffer from asthma than those who did not.
