Why Sydney is going for bold

Article Abstract:

A 750 ha area of industrial wasteland in Sydney, Australia, is to be used as the site for the 2000 Olympic Games. The main stadium, designed by Bligh Lobb, will seat 110,000. The development also includes an equestrian centre, exhibition halls and archery parks. This project can be seen as one of the largest urban regeneration schemes of the 20th century. Significant emphasis is being placed on ensuring that the project will bring long-term benefits to the city.
