Soweto, 22 years after the killings

Article Abstract:

The actions of the thousands of black pupils in Soweto, South Africa, who marched in protest against the inequalities in the education system on Jun 16, 1976, have not served to improve education in South Africa. There are serious problems with teenage pregnancies, drugs and inadequate funding, and teachers have threatened to strike because the government has been considering reducing their numbers in order to release money for books and buildings. It seems that those who died on Jun 16, 1976, did so in vain.

The rising sun aims for the Moon

Article Abstract:

Japan hopes to place a domestically manufactured unmanned spacecraft on the Moon during the first quarter of the 21st century, and eventually to undertake a manned mission to the Moon. It has already made more than 100 launches over the last 28 years, but its space programme has attracted relatively little international attention. This is probably because it has undertaken no manned space flights.
