Submarine fiasco is victory for Seoul

Article Abstract:

The South Korean government is using a recent incident in which a North Korean submarine ran aground on the South Korean coast to full advantage for propaganda purposes. The incident is being portrayed as another example of South Korea being the innocent victim of a highly dangerous Communist aggressor. In fact, it is more likely that the submarine was not on any sort of spying mission at all. North Korea is probably not really in a position to pose a serious threat to South Korea.

'I stood in front of the house in my summer kimono, looking up. Then the flash came.' (Fumiko Kihara, survivor of Hiroshima bomb)(Interview)

Article Abstract:

The atomic bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima on Aug 06, 1945, caused many thousands of deaths initially, with thousands more dying subsequently as a result of exposure to radiation. Those who survived have suffered long-term health problems. These include Fumiko Kihara, who is now 82 and still bears the scars from the burns she suffered at the time. She receives special treatment as a Hiroshima victim, but would still rather have been able to lead a normal life.

Masked 'ninjas' blamed for wave of killings in Java

Article Abstract:

There have been more than 150 deaths in mysterious circumstances in East Java since Aug 1998. The murders are undertaken at night by people who turn off the local electricity supply. Some of the murderers seem to have been local people, but in many cases the murders were undertaken by strangers wearing black masks and clothes. Army and military reinforcements have been called in from across Indonesia, but there is still great fear in remote villages.
