That's no way to pull a pink pint

Article Abstract:

There are many independently run gay cafe-bars in cities across the UK, and this area of the market is now starting to attract the attention of brewers. Bass Charrington already has around 20 gay pubs, but has deliberately tried not to attract attention to its involvement in this sector. In contrast, Allied Domecq, which has recently opened a gay bar in Birmingham, has sought publicity. This bar has been the subject of protests from gay men, lesbians and sympathetic heterosexuals who feel that lesbians and drag queens are being refused entry as they do not fit in with the image Allied Domecq is trying to create.

This man is a marathon runner and Nike ad star. He's HIV-positive, too

Article Abstract:

Ric Munoz was diagnosed HIV-positive in 1987, but still remains extremely healthy, running 80 miles a week and competing in 10 marathons every year. He has received considerable publicity over recent years, and is now to appear in a Nike advertisement. He is keen to emphasise that not everyone who is HIV-positive will be in a position to take part in a marathon, but that being HIV-positive should not dominate that person's life.

Faggamuffins' night out

Article Abstract:

A number of nightclubs in London are now catering almost exclusively for black gays and lesbians. These people have found a new self-confidence, having previously felt intimidated by the overwhelmingly white nature of the gay scene. They no longer feel that they have to remain hidden, and promoters are starting to realise that the black gay club market has great potential.
