BBC backs down from court battle to protect the reputation of its model reporter

The BBC has reached a settlement with modelling agency Elite over a documentary made by investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre alleging maltreatment of young models. The settlement raises doubts about the direction of the BBC's current affairs documentaries.

The '20th hijacker' had been a suspect for years - but he was ignored by intelligence agencies

Article Abstract:

French intelligence made repeated warnings that French Islamic radical Zacarias Moussaoui was a member of al'Qa-ida. These warnings were ignored by intelligence agencies in both the UK and the US. It is now known that he made frequent contact with known associates of those responsible for the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

Leeson's assets frozen by High Court

Article Abstract:

An injunction taken out on behalf of creditors of collapsed merchant bank Barings by accounting firm Ernst & Young will freeze the assets of convicted securities trader Nick Leeson. Leeson was due to receive around 100,000 pounds sterling from selling his story to the Daily Mail on his release from prison in Singapore. One of Leeson's fellow inmates has alleged that he has hidden away more than 2 million pounds sterling.
