The Tory message gets a little help from Super Mac

Article Abstract:

The UK Conservative party is focusing its campaigning for the forthcoming general election on economic issues, attempting to make voters feel that a Labour government would damage the country's economic prospects. However, it seems that it is having considerable difficulty putting across its economic message. This is serving to highlight the importance of chancellor Kenneth Clarke to the election campaign and to move the balance of opinion within the Conservative party in favour of a televised debate between prime minister John Major and Labour party leader Tony Blair.

The future face of the Tory party

Article Abstract:

Candidates for the leadership of the UK Conservative party have been campaigning hard to gain support from their fellow MPs. The leadership battle has been particularly interesting for the way in which it has caused a democratic impulse to emerge gradually within the Conservative party. A number of candidates have called for party members to be allowed to have a say in the selection of the next leader. In the short term, this could probably help right-wing candidates, while in the long term it could lead to an overall rise in party membership.

The Tory leadership battle is not a political sideshow

Article Abstract:

It is wrong to dismiss the battle for the leadership of the UK Conservative party as insignificant. It must be remembered that the Conservative party is still more than twice as large in Parliament as the Liberal Democrats.
