The day I learnt how to think straight

Article Abstract:

The Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education programme, which has been tested at 17 comprehensive schools in the UK, has been found to lead to a dramatic improvement in GCSE science results. The programme aims to teach pupils to think rather than just to learn, and has also been shown to bring improvements in standards of maths and English. It was developed following research which indicated that most British schoolchildren find it hard to make the switch from concrete thinking to abstract thinking.

The Bachelor Boy

Article Abstract:

Cliff Richard has become the most popular singer ever in the UK. He has sold 45 million singles over a career spanning 30 years, and is the only British singer to have had hit records in every decade from the 1950s to the 1990s. Some observers make fun of the fact that he is still performing at the age of 56, while others criticise his lack of dress sense. However, he can still attract very large audiences, and is seen by many women as the ideal partner.

What in the name of God is going on here?

Article Abstract:

Opus Dei is the most controversial organisation within the Catholic Church, with its secretive, almost cult-like approach to its activities. It has rather sinister origins, and has been connected with some secretive dealings. It now has 16 bishops, 1,500 priests and 77,000 lay men and women, and is present in 80 countries. It aims to allow ordinary lay people to dedicate themselves to God's work without having to leave the secular world of work.
