President of the Law Society Rodger Pannone announced that the society would only support competent solicitors from Jul 15, 1993. Mr Pannone, chairman of Pannone & Partners, is a pioneer in multiple claims prcedures in personal injury actions. He believes in objective performance evaluation. He aims for relationships with the medical and teaching professions, which are also affected by government policy making cost take precedence over quality and standards. The society intends to persuade industry to employ lawyers as managers.

Solicitors include marketing in their overall strategy with teamwork. client care is an important issue in a recession. Different firms organise marketing in various ways. Some use consultants, some a marketing professional. Business development partners meet regularly to develop strategy. Outsiders can command more authority than in-house staff although it is sometimes difficult convincing parners of their expertise.
