The green, green fields of home are under threat: from houses, houses and yet more houses
Article Abstract:
Recent research has indicated that demand for housing in certain parts of the UK over the next few decades will grow by a much higher rate than originally anticipated. This will push house prices and rents up unless many new homes are built. In turn, this will make ordinary people more prosperous, especially those facing negative equity. However, the prospect of building many more homes is causing concern among local planners, who emphasise that open land is in very short supply. Environmentalists are also concerned about building new homes when there are already many unsold homes on the market.

The last Wynne at Garthewin
Article Abstract:
The Garthewin estate in north Wales has been the property of the Wynne family for 1,000 years, and still covers almost 1,000 acres. The family has been finding it hard to raise the money to keep the estate going for several generations already, and now it must be sold. The house itself is not too large, and could be suitable as a family home.
