The irresistible rise of the second liners

Article Abstract:

Large companies have performed considerably better than their smaller counterparts on financial markets in recent years. However, this trend now seems to be changing. Research undertaken by Merrill Lynch indicates that institutional fund managers are now beginning to increase their exposure to small and medium-sized companies. Many smaller companies seem to be attractively priced, and they may outperform large companies for a short time. However, there are no clear reasons why the economic climate should go against larger companies.

Wall Street's bubble could burst soon

Article Abstract:

Investors have been increasingly warned recently of the likely impact of a downward trend on Wall Street. Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve, has been watching Wall Street very closely recently for signs of excess, and has already created unrest by referring to the likely economic impact of irrational investment activity. Investors would now be very unwise to allow themselves to be dazzled by the apparently unstoppable rise of Wall Street.

Mood change carries a whiff of the bear

Article Abstract:

1usaFinancial markets have suffered a significant slump in investor sentiment since the US stock market peaked in Jul 1999. There is growing evidence that investors are becoming more risk averse. There is nothing in the history of financial markets to indicate that this pessimistic mood will not disappear, but some observers believe that there are now signs of the start of a bear market.
