The lady comes in from the dark

Article Abstract:

The play 'Lady in the Dark,' which features music by Kurt Weill and lyrics by Ira Gershwin, was first performed on Broadway in Jan 1941. It was extremely influential in the development of music theatre, being very unusual both in form and subject matter. It is made up almost entirely of three dream sequences where fantasy and reality mix and the seductive and dramatic power of the music works to great advantage. The play has now come to London, England, in a production by Francesca Zambello.

Make it a Last Night to remember

Article Abstract:

Soprano Dame Felicity Lott and mezzo Ann Murray have performed duets together since the late 1980s. They are now to perform at the Last Night of the Proms, which will be only the second duet to have performed at this event. They greatly enjoy singing duets, as they feel that it gives them more freedom and flexibility than singing solo. They have gained a strong reputation throughout Europe, but have not become extremely well known, as other singers have.
