The Costa del car boom
Article Abstract:
Seat was a government enterprise which transformed into the private sector, like Rover. It built cars for Fiat's European sales network. Designers and engineers from other European countries were used for the Ibiza. Volkswagen became Seat's sole shareholder to acquire strong Mediterranean sales. Modernisation has led to new cars such as the Toledo and the Marbella replacement, linked with Suzuki. In 1991 75% of sales were outside Spain.
