The struggle is just beginning

Article Abstract:

Bombs can be made by a small number of people, and this is a problem in Northern Ireland, where a high proportion of the Real IRA have gained knowledge from membership of the Provisional IRA. They know how to obtain and use weapons, and there are limits to the extent to which these dissident groups can be controlled by the mainstream groups. The 32 Country Sovereignty Committee provides a political voice for the dissidents, who receive funds from Irish Americans.

Angry men at an Ulster crossroads

Article Abstract:

The prospects for loyalists sticking to the ceasefire in Northern Ireland seem uncertain at present. The Progressive Unionist Party, the political unit of the Ulster Volunteer Force, retains the confidence of the Ulster Volunteer Force, which has decided to disband its Portadown unit. However, this may not continue to be the case if the Ulster Volunteer Force feels that too many concessions are being made to nationalists.
