Tina walks tall as 'New Yorker' chief falls

Article Abstract:

Tom Florio has been replaced as New Yorker Pres by his older brother Steven, Conde Nast Publications Chief Executive. This follows the former's failure to bring the magazine into profit. The magazine's financial problems have partly been caused by editor Tina Brown, who has an annual budget of $35 million and pays large sums of money to writers. Brown's position seems secure, as she has managed to boost the magzine's circulation by almost one-third to around 808,000 since she became editor in 1992.
