The problems facing news channel CNN are discussed. More US homes have access to CNN than to Fox News Channel (FCN), but CNN was overtaken in peak time ratings by FCN in the first quarter of 2001.

Tina's the talk of New York again, but now it's all bad news

It is rumoured that Hearst Magazines wishes to end its association with Talk magazine, founded by Tina Brown in Aug 1999. If this happens, the magazine would face the significant challenge of finding alternative investment. A considerable number of people in New York, NY, have been wanting Brown to fail.

The Pepsi regeneration

PepsiCo has always struggled to compete with Coca-Cola, but appears to be performing quite well at present. It has particularly benefited from the growth of Frito-Lay, which is now the largest salty-snacks concern in the world and accounts for around two-thirds of PepsiCo's revenues. Chief Executive and Chmn Roger Enrico has also proved very influential, particularly in making the company more focused.
