UK: ARM AND IMAGINATION IN TALKS

Article Abstract:

ARM Holdings is discussing a strategic alliance with another UK-based chip design firm, Imagination Technologies, which may lead to a broader deal as both parties look to feature their offerings in a wider array of electronic devices. The agreement could lead to the firms cross-licensing intellectual property from one another. Imagination Technologies' chief executive, Hossein Yassaie, said that the agreement would enhance the UK's status as a leading intellectual property generator. The deal would entail collaborating on designing a chip using ARM's conventional microprocessor and graphics technology from Imagination.
