UK: REVIVAL FOR BOO.COM

Article Abstract:

Boo.com has been acquired by US-based electronic commerce retailer, Fashionmall.com, which will revive the UK-based Internet retailer whose founders called in the receivers in May 2000. Fashionmall.com intends to test a new derivative of Boo.com in the UK and US during autumn 2000 after paying liquidators GB[pound] 200,000 earlier in 2000 for the rights to the brand name. Boo.com, which had debts of GB[pound] 178mn, is said by its new owners to have massive global awareness and is a unique website.

UK: BOO.COM RETURNS AS A RETAIL E-PORTAL

Article Abstract:

Boo.com, the fashion e-tailer, is making a comeback following its crash earlier in the year as a retail portal. It will not sell or warehouse merchandise but will connect users to people who do. Boo was rescued by US fashion portal Fashionmall.com, which bought the brand and rights to use its logo and domain name for GB[pound] 0.25mn. Fashionmall is profitable with revenues generated from transaction and advertising fees. The purchase of boo will help it accelerate its European expansion.
