UK: EDF TO BUY POWER STATION

Article Abstract:

Electricite de France (EdF) will pay GB[pound] 442mn for the Sutton Bridge gas-fired power station in the UK, currently owned by Enron, the US-based energy business. However, Enron revealed that it would not dispose of any other power facilities in the UK and that it would create another two 1,200MW plants which the current suspension on gas-fired stations is holding up.

UK: CORBY STAKE ACQUIRED BY POWERGEN

Article Abstract:

As part of a deal with ESBI Engineering and US-based Dominion Resources, PowerGen has agreed to pay GB[pound] 33mn for a 50% stake in Corby Power. PowerGen, the UK electricity utility, claims that the investment would have a direct effect on earnings from 2001. Corby Power operates a gas-fired power station in Northamptonshire.

Powergen soars on hopes of bid battle
