Variations on a theme of Tharp

Article Abstract:

Dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp feels that it is important to do things and then talk about them, rather than the other way round. For this reason, she is unwilling to discuss her current projects. Her work is beginning to be seen again in the UK, following a period during which UK ballet companies were either too poor or too cautious to emulate companies abroad in receiving her work. The Royal Ballet has acquired two pieces by her, while Birmingham Royal Ballet has performed 'In the Upper Room.'
