Don't listen to what Mr Blair says, watch what he does

Article Abstract:

There has been more to learn during the campaigning for the UK's 2001 general election than would appear to be the case. Indeed, it can be argued that the campaign itself was informative. One lesson is that Prime Minister Tony Blair will require a more collective government in a second Labour term in office.

Was all this worth it just for the sake of - Wales, Mr Blair?

Article Abstract:

Alan Michael, the favoured candidate of UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, has been elected leader of the Welsh Assembly. However, this development will work against Blair in some ways. Michael's election will foster resentment among Labour party activists and members, who favoured Rhodri Morgan, and this will mean that they will be less enthusiastic about voting in the Welsh Assembly elections in May 6, 1999. This will in turn make it harder for the Labour party to maintain its position in Wales. It is now not impossible that Labour will gain less than an overall majority of the seats in the Welsh Assembly.
