We don't need nuclear bombs

Article Abstract:

An international commission made up of many very senior military and political figures has recently published a report on the feasibility of totally eliminating nuclear weapons. The report concludes that these weapons are of no use as a military weapon, and that deploying them indefinitely brings the risk that they will ultimately be used. It is now time to seize a valuable opportunity to eliminate nuclear weapons while there is no large source of tension between the great powers.

Facing the challenge of global depletion means changing our habits

Article Abstract:

The rapid expansion of the human population will inevitably lead to the Earth having many fewer species and individual creatures within 30-40 years. The extent to which depletion of the Earth's resources will take place will be determined by how people respond to this problem. The response is not likely to come very rapidly, as it appears that many people have become hardened to the idea of species becoming extinct and are unwilling to consider depressing prospects.

EBRD facing nuclear fall-out

Article Abstract:

The European Commission is soon to publish a report which is extremely critical of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) involvement in controversial plans to finance the completion of the Mochovce nuclear plant in Slovakia. The report states that it would be less expensive to build a gas-powered plant from scratch than to complete the Mochovce plant, and calls into question the bank's support for the nuclear option.
