Article Abstract:

There has been conflict throughout the history of dictionary-making in the UK. This is because there have always been substantial commercial rewards associated with producing a popular and authoritative dictionary. Conflict in this sector has been heightened recently with the forthcoming launch of the New Oxford Dictionary of English, which is aimed at the highly competitive mid-range sector of the market. This dictionary will not mark the end of dictionary-making in the UK.

Golfing magazines go into the rough

Article Abstract:

It is uncertain why there has been a fall in sales of golfing magazines and why coverage of golf in other ways, including on television, has declined. The launch of many alternative golf magazines could partly be undermining the market for golf magazines, and golf sites on the Internet could also be presenting competition. Emap has decided to relaunch GolfWorld, its top-of-the-range golfing title, and is attempting to reposition Today's Golfer and Fore!.
