What is it with Wes Craven and teenage girls?

Article Abstract:

Wes Craven's film 'Scream' is extremely successful in combining comedy and horror. It creates a very unusual sense of energy in the audience, even though it is very frightening. The script aims to subvert the horror genre, and contains very acute irony. Craven defends the fact that his films show women who get beaten up, pointing out that this merely reflects what happens frequently in real life. In 'Scream,' he seems to show great faith in the inherent superiority of teenage girls.

It's a thin line between clever and stupid

Article Abstract:

Pop group Menswear has attracted considerable attention from music producers already, even though it has not yet produced a single. It has now signed to Laurel, a subsidiary of London Records, and is starting to give performances outside London, with considerable success. Its members have adopted a 'Mod' style, with drainpipe trousers and feather haircuts, and some critics have dismissed them as having style but no musical talent.

Never say dead in the water

Article Abstract:

Pop group the Charlatans first became popular at the end of the 1980s, attracting audiences with their unusual vocals, strong guitar anthems and organ power chords. However, their second album, 'Between Tenth and Eleventh,' was not as well received as their first. Their new album, 'The Charlatans,' contains songs which are far more textured than their previous ones, giving a much richer sound.
