Wibbly, wobbly and wonderful

Article Abstract:

Architect and designer Ron Arad has seen strong demand over the last 15 years from collectors, restaurateurs and art galleries for his extremely inventive furniture, art and architecture. His works feature strange shapes and fantastic forms, and bring together the disciplines of fine art, industrial design, craft, architecture and interior design. He aims to bridge the gap between art and architecture, as well as produce items which are entertaining.

21st century soul

Article Abstract:

Most people in the UK have a rather romantic view of churches, regarding them merely as tourists attractions or somewhere to hold weddings and christenings. There have been calls for more millennium funds to be invested in building churches, but this would actually be a misguided move. It would be better to look carefully at what could be done with existing churches, especially the many which are currently underused or redundant.

No one loves a conurbation

Article Abstract:

The city of Birmingham, England, never really stood a chance of winning over London in the battle to host the Millennium Festival. This is because the majority of British people have a very stereotyped view of Birmingham and its history. Its main problem is that it lacks glamour and identity, making it seem to have less character than other cities of similar size, such as Manchester or Sheffield.
