Will football be brought down in an overcrowded box?
Article Abstract:
Despite the BSkyB 300 million pounds sterling contract with the Football Association in 1992, it often has under a million viewers and sales of satellite dishes have not grown. Sunday viewers have the choice of live Premier League football, a First Division match on ITV or an Italian match on Channel 4. Viewers prefer live football to recorded highlights. In 1993 BBC and ITV will show European Cup football, live First Division matches, the FA Cup and Coca Cola Cup ties and the deciding matches in the World Cup qualifying rounds. ITV will sign up three of the four English teams in Europe for their matches against foreign teams.

No one can keep her down
Article Abstract:
British mountaineer Alison Hargreaves recently became the first woman, and only the second person ever, to climb Everest alone and without additional oxygen. She is now attempting to reach the summit of K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, again without oxygen. She believes that high-altitude ascents can only be successful if the climb is undertaken as quickly as possible, as above around 8,000 mt the body is not functioning properly, and this can be fatal if allowed to continue for too long.

Dressing-down can cheer employees up
Article Abstract:
Some companies have decided that their staff may work better when wearing more casual clothes, and have revised their dress code accordingly. However, many employees still prefer to dress formally for work, and most companies insist that staff look smart if they are meeting clients. Some staff who have participated in schemes which allow them to dress more casually on Fridays have found that they get less work done.
