There are always reasons to be hopeful, even though there is a great deal of ugliness in the world, according to film director John Woo. He has included elements in his film 'Face/Off' which are intended to symbolize hope, even though the film shows many murders. He is able to find very subtle ways of channeling his conscience into his art, and believes that audiences can learn from both good and bad characters. He has now successfully made the transition from cult films to mainstream directing.
