Yamaichi collapse will end the Japanese culture of concealment
Article Abstract:
The financial crisis currently taking place in Asia can be seen as an indication that a complex turning point has been reached in the world economy. It is likely that International Monetary Fund intervention will rescue South Korea from its economic difficulties. Similarly, the situation in Japan is also set to become more positive. By 2007, Asia's present difficulties will have become merely a memory. The collapse of Yamaichi Securities will have a positive impact in that it will bring an end to the culture of concealment in Japan.

Why wise men will be thinking about gold investments now
Article Abstract:
Gold has been a poor investment since the mid-1980s, with the gold price falling steadily since that time, even in money terms. In real terms, the decline in the value of gold is even sharper, with gold now being back to the average price for the last 130 years. However, observers who believe that there will be a serious upheaval in the world economy during the next 10 years may wish to continue to invest in gold, which continues to be a protection against debasement of the currency.

Valuable property that's all in the mind
Article Abstract:
Moves by the US Justic Department to launch an anti-trust suit against computer software concern Microsoft to prevent it launching its Windows 95 product highlight the growing trend for anti-trust investigations to focus on intellectual property, rather than on goods. Leading companies are now increasingly becoming involved in several different technologies, and anti-trust authorities must consider whether they should be obliged to offer technologies from their competitors.
