Your first job is to be happy
Article Abstract:
It is common for young adults to feel after they have been in a particular career for several years that they have made the wrong career choice. Careers advisers can offer reassurance, emphasizing that it is never too late to take up a different career. Graduates should take care not to simply accept the first job offer they receive, and should not be influenced just by money.

Will you be my buddy?
Article Abstract:
A mentoring scheme can be very valuable for graduates starting their first job. A mentor can act as a source of advice on a wide range of issues, and can ensure that the graduate does not make basic mistakes that could subsequently have a negative impact on career progression. Research indicates that the relationship between mentor and new employee will be most successful if they are quite close in age and the new employee is not within the mentor's direct line of command.
