The violent and ferocious behavior of shrews is essential to their survival. These mouse-sized mammals have high metabolic rates that force them to remain active and constantly feed to avoid starvation. Canada has designatied the Pacific water shrew as a threatened species.

Caribou are well-known inhabitants of Canada which are generally accustomed to severe weather climate. However, certain factors such as industrial developments reshape the wilderness and are contributing to the demise of the caribou.
