Are Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt objects pristine?
Article Abstract:
Researchers have cast doubt on the theory that comets have escaped the destructive forces of thermal or shock reprocessing. A computer simulation of the evolution of the comets in the Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt indicates that comets are not pristine fossils from the early solar system.

Researchers have found evidence that links the basaltic achondrite meteorite type with the main-belt asteroid 4 Vesta. The finding will help researchers develop more complete models of the formation of the solar system. Additional implications of the research are discussed.
